Andy Reid spent almost nine hours yesterday with members of the Kansas City Chiefs, including owner Clark Hunt and GM Scott Pioli. He is now on the verge of becoming Kansas City’s next head coach, according to Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter. Of course, just a few days ago, Adam Schefter said Arizona was the place. Ahh, the coaching rumor season to drive negotiation.

Kansas City may not to be the worst job after all, what with cap space, the first overall pick, and some pieces in place. It remains to be seen what will happen to Scott Pioli, and if this move also precipitates a change there, to bring in Tom Heckert to work with Reid, all the better. If it becomes official, Reid will be tasked with doing what he has been pretty good at in Philadelphia, and what has long been lacking in Kansas City–developing quarterbacks.
