Jerome Lane shattered a backboard 25 years ago today, and announcer Bill Raftery wasted no time putting his stamp on this historic moment: “Send it in, Jerome!”
Best dunk in Big East history? Between the shattered backboard, the iconic call, and the crowd reaction, this is probably tops. If it’s not No. 1, it certainly is in the discussion. Also, this makes me sad the Big East is closing up shop.
Lane’s son, Jerome Jr., is a high school senior and headed to Akron on a football scholarship next year.
