Notre Dame Lost Recruit Jamel James To Texas State?

The Fighting Irish weren’t relevant enough for one recruit. Jamel James, a three-star running back out of Katy Texas, decommitted from Notre Dame in December. Two days ago, he opted to stay closer to home, by signing with Texas State, the team that went 4-8 and just joined FBS. This is far more shocking than when Notre Dame lost committed wide receiver Deontay Greenberry to Houston on Signing Day.

James had committed to Notre Dame in June, after decommitting from Arkansas when Bobby Petrino was fired. He was expected to pursue offers from Washington and Arizona State, among others. That’s certainly an interesting decision. [Update: A lot of message board noise about grades, though it seems odd that Notre Dame would take a flier on a kid who was in doubt to qualify.]
