Rob Ryan is loud and boisterous and colorful. He gets penalties for yelling at officials and costing his team. One has to wonder, though, if his last name was not Ryan, and if he was not great by association to his brother and father, if he would have even been confident enough to think he would be instantaneously employed again after his history.

Rob Ryan’s defenses have ranked in the bottom third of the league in net yards per pass attempt in 8 of his 9 seasons as a defensive coordinator. Yes, his defense was affected by injuries this last year. This year was not an anomaly, though. That’s not exactly the kind of performance over nearly a decade that screams “must hire”, especially with all the other nonsense that comes along with it.
