Titus Young is pushing the confidence thing to its limits. The troubled wide receiver was such a pain in the the butt that the Lions just released him two years after drafting him in the second round. The problems reportedly stemmed from, among other things, intentionally lining up wrong and pissing off his position coach.

Can you blame him, though? The Lions were not showing him the proper respect and making him the focal point of the offense since he is the clear best receiver on the team. What’s that, you say? Calvin Johnson is on this team?

Well, according to his old high school coach, Titus Young believes he’s better than the receiver who just set the single season yardage record.

"“He did tell me he thought he was just as good Megatron,” Robinson recalled late last month. “I said, ‘Titus, come on.’ I said, ‘Come on, man. Who you talking to?’ I said, ‘Come on, you’re as good as that guy? This guy is the real deal.’ And he really believes this. And he was sincere about it. ‘Ah man, I’m better than him.’ I said, ‘No you’re not. Be real man. Come on.’ So I don’t know, I’m hoping for the best for him.”"

Some level of delusion is probably required to be a pro athlete. Titus Young just has a little too much of the crazy. The Rams think he would be a perfect pairing to go against talented Janoris Jenkins in practice, as they just claimed the receiver. First order of business: administer the drug test.
