Magic Johnson Makes $1 Million Plea for LeBron James to Participate in the Slam Dunk Contest

Speaking during ESPN’s NBA coverage last night, Magic Johnson made a desperate plea for LeBron James to participate in next year’s Slam Dunk contest.

“I’m going to put up a million dollars,” he said. “One million dollars from Magic to LeBron, please get in the dunk contest. I go every year, I want to see you out there. A million to the winner.”

The league currently pays $100,000 to the winner and $50,000 to the runner-up.

James has never participated in the contest but has modeled some incredible fashion as an attendee.

His lack of participation has become a major talking point recently after two jaw-dropping videos of his pregame efforts went viral. The Miami Heat star then threatened to stop throwing it down before games, which is the perfect story for the new “SportsCenter.”

Get ready to embrace the debate about Johnson’s offer over the next week. You know it’s coming.
