Adreian Payne, Michigan State’s athletic power forward who could sneak his way into the lottery portion of the NBA draft this June if he leaves school early, missed a dunk Thursday against Wisconsin and landed on the back of his neck. For a moment, it looked terrifying and as if Payne – Sparty’s 3rd leading scorer and No. 1 rebounder – might have suffered a significant injury. But after a couple seconds on the floor, Payne sprung up and, amazingly, came up with the loose ball. The crowd roared; Tom Izzo exhaled.
