Syracuse led Louisville 35-22 at halftime in the Big East Championship, and a few minutes into the second half when the lead swelled to 15, it appeared the Orange would be leaving the conference as champs. Then Louisville went on a 27-3 tear – the impetus was the 4th foul on Syracuse sharpshooter James Southerland – and blasted the Orange, 78-61.
Syracuse, incredibly, was outscored 56-26 in the second half.
