Michigan Beats Florida 79-59, Advances To Final Four

Michigan was “ON” and most certainly “rose to the occasion.” The Wolverines beat Florida 79-59 advancing to their first Final Four since the second Fab Five team in 1993. Michigan jumped out to a 13-0 lead and, despite a nervy start to the second half, never let the Gators back into the game. Huge win for the program. Huge win for the Big Ten Conference. The tournament may be random, but it’s hard to claim “best damn basketball conference in the land” status without at least one team playing on the final weekend.

The Wolverines got huge games from Nik Stauskas (7-8 shooting, 6-6 from three-point range) and Trey Burke (15 points, 7 assists, 8 rebounds and 3 steals). Mitch McGary had five steals in addition to 11 points and nine rebounds. Backup point guard Spike Albrecht also had four steals off the bench.

Florida will wonder where Erik Murphy went. The senior choked hard in his final game, with a dismal 0-11 from the field. Ouch.
