Police Investigate Death in Infield During NRA 500

A man died of a “self-inflicted injury” on Texas Motor Speedway’s infield during the final laps of last night’s NRA 500. A police spokesman indicated that alcohol was likely a factor and the incident came on the heels of a verbal altercation.

The man was believed to be around 40, but his identity wasn’t revealed.

The investigation was focused on a pickup truck parked near Turn 3.
