Dead Boston Marathon Bombing Suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev Had Hopes of Boxing For America in the Olympics

Tamerlan-Tsarnaev-boxing-american-flagTamerlan-Tsarnaev-boxing-girlfriendTamerlan Tsarnaev, one of the two men deemed suspects by the FBI in connection with the Boston Marathon bombing, was killed following a shootout with police last night. This morning the city of Boston is in complete lockdown as the manhunt for Tamerlan’s younger brother, Dzhokar Tsarnaev, 19, continues. The Tsarnaev brothers were Chechens born in Russia. A photo gallery of Tamerlan Tsarnaev training boxing at  Wai Kru Mixed Martial Arts center in Boston has some details about the 26-year old. Via Johannes Hirn:

“I don’t have a single American friend, I don’t understand them.”

Tamerlan says he doesn’t drink or smoke anymore: “God said no alcohol.” A muslim, he says: “There are no values anymore,” and worries that “people can’t control themselves.”

Tamerlan says he doesn’t usually take his shirt off so girls don’t get bad ideas: “I’m very religious.”

If he wins enough fights there, Tamerlan says he could be selected for the US Olympic team and be naturalized American. Unless his native Chechnya becomes independent, Tamerlan says he would rather compete for the United States than for Russia.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev was a student at Bunker Hill Community College. The woman in the picture is Tsarnaev’s girlfriend – a half Portuguese, half Italian who converted to Islam.
