NBC's Local North Dakota Affiliate Debuts New Weekend Anchor With a Swear-Filled Train Wreck [Video]

Update 3: A.J. Clemente tweeted that he has been fired by KFYR-TV.

A.J. Clemente is a graduate of West Virginia who is used to the East Coast. This weekend he made his debut as an anchor for NBC’s Bismarck, North Dakota affiliate, KFYR. As the station came back from commercial, Clemente can be seen saying, “Yeah, yeah. Fucking shit.” Oops. Understandably, co-anchor Van Tieu was thrown off by Clemente’s colorful first words and the worst intro to the local news ever now exists.

Sorry A.J.

UPDATE: His Twitter is already gone. Hopefully the station gives him a chance to redeem himself.

UPDATE 2: Here’s the station’s statement, via their Facebook page:

To all of you who are writing in…I want to apologize for an incident that occurred prior to our early newscast this evening, when one of our employees used profanity on the air.

He did not realize his microphone was on, but still, that’s no excuse. WE train our reporters to always assume that any microphone is live at any time. Unfortunately, that was not enough in this case. WE can’t take back what was said. The person involved has been suspended until we resolve the situation. All we can do at this point is ask for your forgiveness, and I can offer my personal assurance that I will do my best to ensure that nothing like this ever happens again under my watch.

Monica Hannan, KFYR-TV News Director

Take it easy on the guy, Monica. #saveaj [h/t @billvoth]
