Dee Milliner, who was a dominant cornerback this season for National Champion Alabama, is headed to New York to replace Darrelle Revis. The Jets took Milliner 9th, despite his shaky health status. Milliner can play just about any type of coverage, and he looked incredibly dominant last season, especially against Michigan and Notre Dame (granted, neither had a great QB).
He’s had five surgeries, and might not be ready until August, but he also ran a sub 4.4 40, and probably is the best cornerback in the draft (depending who you talk to). I have some reservations about Alabama cornerbacks, mostly because they play for such great defenses. The last few out of Alabama – Jackson, Kirkpatrick – haven’t looked great in the NFL.
Milliner should instantly start ahead of Kyle Wilson, who is pretty clearly a bust.
