Jay Glazer, appearing on the Dan Patrick show this morning, dropped an interesting nugget about former LSU star Tyrann Mathieu: the Honey Badger blew off visits with Houston and Seattle last week. Glazer said that he was told Mathieu “fell off the grid” and couldn’t be reached; Mathieu’s agent said his client was sick and bedridden.

Whatever the case, Glazer made a good point – for a guy who failed more than 10 drug tests in college, for a guy who went to rehab, for a guy who probably has more question marks than any other elite talent in this draft, can you really afford to fall off the grid a week before the draft and blow off teams?

There’s obviously a significant difference between blowing off teams and being unable to make a scheduled visit. It’ll be interesting to see if Mathieu – whom Jon Gruden loves – gets taken tonight. The Patriots remain a strong candidate, and they’ve got five picks between 52-105 after the Minnesota heist late Thursday.
