The topic of Mike Francesa’s radio show Tuesday? Naturally whether or not Mickey Mantle might have corked his bat.
Eventually, after taking a bunch of calls on the subject, Francesa read the press release from the memorabilia company selling the alleged corked bat and New York’s No. 1 finally loses his cool, saying there’s never been rumors Mantle doctored his bat. (Here it is in GIF form.)
A few minutes later Mantle’s former teammate with the Yankees Bobby Richardson called into the show to confirm he never saw The Mick cork his bat either.
Case closed.
