"Smith entered jail in late March and is serving time a 2-year sentence for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and a 4-year sentence for cocaine possession. His tentative release date is November 8, 2018."

Smith led the NFL in receptions in 1999 with 116, and hearing he’s doing six years floored me … until I did some reading up on him. It’s amazing how in the early days of the internet (can I call the 00s the early days of the web? No? Too bad), stuff like cocaine possession and drunk driving can be forgotten.

So what happens first – the Jaguars make the playoffs, or Smith gets out of jail? Too soon? [First Coast News via Prisco]
