The Los Angeles Times wrote again about the issues surrounding Steve Alford’s past at Iowa, with his handling of the Pierre Pierce sexual assault case. The piece is a summary of the events of Alford’s career, from high school star to coach at Missouri State to Iowa to New Mexico. It recaps much of the news that has been reported in recent months and years regarding the Pierre Pierce case, including Alford’s role in the handling.

The Times piece, though, fails to go into detail about his time at UCLA, and that has AD Dan Guerrero upset.

Guerrero released a statement in response, and he would like people to stop ignoring what Steve Alford has accomplished at UCLA.

Alford, of course, has yet to coach a game at UCLA. No one has transferred, though. That’s what Guerrero meant. We should focus on that. It’s sad that the LA Times wrote a piece about Alford’s career and didn’t discuss all the Final Fours he hasn’t reached at UCLA yet.
