This is the Snoop I remember – Doggystyle, one of the greatest rap albums of the last 25 years – and if you want to toss in his scene in Old School, I’ll give you that. But Snoop Lion? When did this happen?Perhaps more importantly, why did this happen?

Almost as surprising as this name change is the jarring news that Snoop’s got a son who is a high school sophomore (he’ll be a junior in the Fall) and he’s being heavily recruited to play football. USC, UCLA and now LSU all want receiver Cordell Broadus. Surely they’ll take the publicity that comes with his arrival on campus (obvious Gameday feature in the future, etc).

Rivals doesn’t rank sophomores, but Duke, Tennessee, Cal and Washington have all offered the 6-foot-3, 185-pound receiver, so clearly he’s got some potential. Here’s a highlight reel:
