The Pacers tied the Eastern Conference Finals in Miami last night with a 97-93 win. Roy Hibbert scored 29 points and helped turn LeBron James away from the basket on a crucial late game possession that ended in a James turnover. LeBron also turned the ball over the play before. In the World of Sports Narratives, last night was the return of the “old LeBron James.”

Michael Jordan never would have done something like that…

*dramatic pause*

Except that he totally did!

That was the season that Jordan un-retired, played just 17 regular season games and wore the number 45. Jordan scored 19 points and turned the ball over 8 times in a Game 1 loss to the Orlando Magic. Obviously, there’s a big difference between the freshly returned, 32-year old Michael Jordan and the 28-year old, defending a title and MVP award-winning LeBron James, but still, MICHAEL DID IT TOO!

LeBron James finished Game 2 with 36 points on 14-20 shots, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 turnovers. For what its worth, Jordan bounced back by averaging 33.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.2 turnover the rest of the series. (The Bulls lost in 6 games.)
