The New York Rangers have officially “relieved John Tortorella of his coaching duties.”

The surprising dismissal of the polarizing coach comes after going 77-42 over the past two seasons, reaching the Eastern Conference Finals last year, and the second round this season while dealing with a couple key injuries and a tragically nonexistent Brad Richards.

With King Hank becoming a free agent next summer, fans and media alike will immediately begin to speculate if Torts getting the axe was his preference. Have fun with that.

One thing we do know is angry scribe Larry Brooks — getting some hilarious wrath in the above video — is probably the happiest man in New York City today.

Now please join me in the celebrating this endless entertaining man.

“Holy crap, give me another question please.”

“It’s a rule.” *endless silence*

“We sucked. And we sucked at a time that you can’t suck.”

***

“No.”

I’m with you Torts, I too loathe people that use the pay phone ring.

***

“Have you ever been in a fight before?”

***

“It’s one of the most arrogant organizations in the league. They whine about this stuff all the time.”

***

“I wish you guys would watch the god damn thing and report on the game.”

Yup, I miss him already.
