Is this a surprise to anyone else?
The 49ers traded Alex Smith to the Chiefs, leaving a gaping hole at the No. 2 QB spot. And since Colin Kaepernick is a running QB, this seems like kind of a big deal.
So Colt McCoy is the guy?
"So far, things are working well for McCoy on the practice field as the clear-cut No. 2 quarterback ahead of Scott Tolzien and rookie B.J. Daniels."
That’s hardly competition. I guess if JaMarcus Russell doesn’t stick with the Bears, perhaps the 49ers will give him a look? And what about Tim Tebow in San Francisco? Jim Harbaugh could navigate that circus, right? [via CSN Bay Area]
