Kevin Love, who will either be leaving Minnesota via trade before his contract expires, or in the summer of 2015 when he can opt-out of his contract, was mentioned in a bizarre trade rumor with the Cleveland Cavaliers Tuesday by ESPN:
Love would go to Cleveland in exchange for Dion Waiters, Tristan Thompson and the No. 1 pick in the 2013 draft.
Andy Katz had the byline, which feels odd, since he’s a college basketball guy and rarely, if ever, ventures into the NBA trade rumor mill.
A Love/Kyrie Irving tandem would be filthy and almost certainly vault the Cavaliers into the playoffs next season. Minnesota, which was expected to contend for the playoffs last season before Love got hurt, would have a young core of Rubio/Waiters/Thompson to built around, and possibly add Nerlens Noel to the frontcourt. Win/Win for both teams, or a heist for Cleveland?
Nevertheless, Flip Saunders, the new GM of the Timberwolves, tweeted a response to the trade rumor:
Have to chuckle at all the trade comments, proposals and some suggestions. DO enjoy them but please think first lol.

In 2013, NBA GMs are now tweeting swift responses to rumored trades. Who needs the media to shoot down rumors when teams can do it themselves? [via True Hoop]
