Aaron Hernandez Murder Motive? Odin Lloyd Could Have Had Information on 2012 Double Murder, Report Says

Aaron Hernandez in handcuffsOne of the biggest unanswered questions in the Aaron Hernandez murder case: What was his motive? Why would a successful, 23-year old NFL player with a $37 million contract kill someone?

Prosecutors said Wednesday that earlier this summer, Hernandez was upset Odin Lloyd, 27, spoke to some people in a club, and hours later, executed him. (It has been previously reported that Lloyd was dating the sister of the girl Hernandez was dating.)

The Boston Globe now has sources saying there may have been more motive than that – Lloyd may have had information about an unsolved double-murder from July 2012 that police are investigating. Hernandez, the Globe says, was in the club the night of the double murder.

The officials said investigators now believe that Odin Lloyd, the man Hernandez is charged with killing in a North Attleboro industrial park June 17, may have had information about Hernandez’s role in the double slaying.

“The motive might have been that the victim knew [Hernandez] might have been involved,” one of the officials said.

This is the terrifying picture being painted in the minds of everyone right now: Aaron Hernandez may have been part of a double murder in 2012, then played in the NFL last season, and then killed man this year. [Globe]
