Tuesday night’s Braves – Royals game featured this very unusual sequence of events. While batting in the 9th inning, Royals’ left fielder Alex Gordon got hit in the eye when a moth attacked him. Gordon recoiled and probably had no clue what had hit him.

The umpire sprung into action, calling time as Braves closer Craig Kimbrel started his delivery. As Kimbrel started for home, he saw the home plate umpire going one way and Gordon another. So he just kind of threw the ball wildly into the air. I’m sure his thought process was something along the lines of “Whoaholyshitwheredideveryonego!?” Luckily, no one was hurt. When play resumed, Gordon was intentionally walked.
