Gennady Golovkin improved his perfect record to 27-0 on Saturday night at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut with a 3rd round knockout of Matthew Macklin on HBO. Golovkin, a 31-year old boxer from Kazakhstan, floored Macklin in with a body blow and has now won 24 of his 27 fights by knockout. When Macklin finally got back on his feet, the 29-5 Irish boxer said that Golovkin was the best fighter he had ever faced. From USA TODAY Sports:
“Every shot is hard, even his jab,” Macklin said. “The reason he got me so good to the body is I was preoccupied with defending the uppercuts that he got me downstairs.”
To the right you can see one of the shots that landed upstairs earlier in the fight.
