In a 3-team NBA blockbuster deal that just went down, JJ Redick is going to the Clippers, and Eric Bledsoe and Caron Butler are going to the Suns, according to Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Milwaukee, which is clearly gutting the roster to tank for Andrew Wiggins, will get two 2nd round picks.
The move is a smart one for the Clippers, who had to deal Bledsoe now before they risked losing him next summer. He’s a 23-year old with a lot of talent, but is buried behind Chris Paul.
The only problem with Bledsoe going to the Suns is Phoenix they sank $34 million into Goran Dragic last summer and drafted a point guard, Kendall Marshall, in the lottery in 2013. I guess Marshall’s time will be short in Phoenix. Bledsoe, on the other hand, will be an instant fan favorite.
Redick is an enormous get for the Clippers. He’ll be a designated gunner for LA, and should get more than his share of 3-point looks playing with CP3 and Blake Griffin. Woj reports his new deal will be for 4-years and $27 million. The Clippers also landed Jared Dudley – another 3-point shooter – from Phoenix. The Clippers will compete for the title in the West.
Milwaukee is headed toward serious futility – like 20 wins.
