Here’s a nice little story to start off your holiday-weekend morning. On Friday Angels pitcher Jered Weaver and his wife Kristin welcomed their first son into the world. They named him Aden David Weaver. If that name sounds a little familiar, it’s because the Weavers named him after Jered’s former teammate Nick Adenhart.
For those asking, the Weavers did in fact spell their new son’s name Aden in honor of Nick Adenhart.

Adenhart is never too far from Weaver’s mind when he pitches. From the Associated Press report:
Weaver has paid tribute to Adenhart ever since the young pitcher was killed by a drunken driver after a game in 2009. He scrawls the initials “NA” into the dirt on the mound for each of his starts.
Adenhart was 22 when he died just hours after pitching six scoreless innings in his season debut for the Angels. Two of his friends also died in the April 9, 2009, collision in Fullerton, and another passenger was severely injured.
This is a solid move all-around by the Weaver family.
