Justin Chavarria, a 21-year-old practice player with Oregon’s women’s basketball team, won $250,000 in a national tournament for MLB 2K13. He didn’t just walk in and do this. He spent months in dedicated training.
In a telephone interview from New York City late Tuesday, Chavarria said he practiced the video game on his XBox for about six hours a day in April, took off the month of May, and then began playing as many as eight hours a day once spring semester ended in June.
Some more random background info: Chavarria was a pitcher at Shasta College for a season before transferring to Oregon.
