Hockey chatter in late July? How? Why? This little nugget in a recent column by Charley Walters of the Pioneer Press is why:

"A little birdie says the Wild lost $30 million during their abbreviated 2012-13 season, and a cash call was made to team investors in February. The Wild paid bonuses totaling $20 million to sign free agents Zach Parise and Ryan Suter."

The Wild made the playoffs as the 8th seed, but lost in the first round to the eventual-champion Blackhawks 4-1. Yes, the lockout cost the team millions … but $30 million? [via the Pioneer Press]
