Brandon McCarthy Narrowly Avoided a Line Drive at His Head in First Start Off the DL [GIF] (Update: His Wife Made Fun of Him)

Brandon McCarthy was hit in the head by an Erick Aybar line drive last September. McCarthy suffered a fractured skull and had to undergo surgery. In June of this year, McCarthy suffered a seizure which was believed to be connected to the previous head injury. On Sunday, in McCarthy’s first start off the disabled list, Boston’s Shane Victorino hit a line drive right back at McCarthy in what had to be a scary moment. MLB.com has video.

Update:  Amanda McCarthy, Brandon McCarthy’s wife, who was asked about a possible threesome by her husband when he was released from the hospital back in 2012, took the opportunity to make fun of her husband on Twitter. Who stepped in to protect, Brandon McCarthy’s honor? Shane Victorino.
