Silver, who has been at Yahoo since leaving Sports Illustrated in 2007, refused comment. Yahoo Sports released a statement to The Big Lead: “We can confirm he no longer works for Yahoo! but beyond that, we don’t comment on individual employees.”

The NFL Network has been loading up on writers over the last few years, nabbing Ian Rapoport from the Boston Herald, Albert Breer from the Boston Globe, Jeff Darlington from the Miami Herald, and most recently, Judy Battista from the New York Times.

Yahoo parted ways with NFL writer Jason Cole earlier this summer, and now Silver’s departure might mean Yahoo will be in the market for an NFL writer to help out Les Carpenter and Dan Wetzel. Of course, Yahoo’s new partnership with NBC could mean that more content from Pro Football Talk will also be appearing on Yahoo Sports.
