Vanderbilt’s football team dismissed four players in June for what it termed “a violation of team rules.” The four former players – Brandon Banks, Cory Batey, Jaborian McKenzie and Brandon Vandenburg – have been charged with five counts of aggravated rape and four counts of sexual battery.

"The four defendants are charged with raping the unconscious victim inside Vandenburg’s room at Gillette House dormitory in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 23rd.  The matter first came to light the next week when University officials checking the dorm’s hallway surveillance recordings regarding an unrelated situation observed concerning behavior by the defendants."

The Nashville Police Chief described the evidence as “compelling” and “unsettling.” The players are off the team. They have not been kicked out of school, yet.
