The Los Angeles Dodgers erased a six-run deficit against the Tampa Bay Rays last night to walk off with a 7-6 win. Their four-run ninth inning was capped by this atrocious game-ending throwing error by Rays closer Fernando Rodney. And that’s not hyperbole. When Vin Scully says something wasn’t close, you know it wasn’t close.
The dramatics extended Los Angeles’ lead to 5.5 games in the National League West.
Remember when Don Mattingly’s job seemed to be in question? A 35-8 run will tend to stop that kind of talk.
