Aaron Hernandez has been officially indicted for the murder of Odin Lloyd, according to several reports. Hernandez was due in court later today for a probable cause hearing, but we will have to see if this basically eliminates any need to say much at the actual hearing. The prosecution was given to today to either indict or present evidence at the probable cause hearing.
This is not unexpected. The prosecution already laid out their case in the initial hearing that charged Hernandez. They would have either had to present their evidence (and allow the defense to cross-examine) at a probable cause hearing, or get a Grand Jury Indictment, where they could present the evidence behind closed doors without Hernandez.
The next step should be the march toward trial. According to Michael McCann, it could be next spring.
