Edin Džeko and Sergio Agüero hooked up for a fantastic goal during Sunday’s Manchester City/Cardiff City Premier League match in Wales. Hard to say which of the teammates earns higher marks here, Agüero for his in-stride back-heel pass or Džeko for his rip into the upper 90?

As nice a goal as this was, it didn’t help Manchester City as Cardiff pulled off the first true surprise of the new Premier League season winning 3-2 thanks to a three late goals. It was the first win for Cardiff in the Premier League era as well as the club’s first home game in the top flight for over 50 years. Manchester City did play without starting center backs Vincent Kompany and Matija Nastasic, but this is still absolute shocker.

More than that, it’s a good sign the Premier League isn’t as predictable as it’s felt the last couple seasons.

Fraizer Campbell’s header put Cardiff ahead 2-1, taking advantage of an awful goalkeeper error made by Joe Hart as he flapped and missed on a corner. Campbell scored another header from a corner that proved the eventual winner.

Cardiff fans rubbed it in, celebrating the goal with Manchester City’s traditional Poznan where they turn their backs after scoring. Well played. Really damn well played. It was even better when the fans belted Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds” from the stands to commemorate the famous victory.

Welcome to the big time, Blue Birds, Red Dragons.
