Brandon Phillips Calls Reporter C. Trent Rosecrans a "Fat Motherf---er" For Criticizing His OBP, Dusty Baker Laughed

C. Trent Rosecrans has a problem with Brandon Phillips’ On-Base Percentage. Brandon Phillips has a problem with C. Trent Rosecrans. Phillips let Rosecrans know about his opinion last night while he was speaking with Reds’ manager Dusty Baker, calling the reporter a few iterations of “fat motherf—er” before adding, “I found out your Twitter name now, motherf—er. It’s a wrap.” Dusty Baker seemed to enjoy the exchange.

Rosencrans, the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Reds’ beat reporter tweeted about Phillips’ move to second in the batting order on Wednesday and apparently, someone showed it to Phillips.

The Enquirer responded, saying the incident would not affect their coverage of the team.

While we are disappointed in Phillips’ reaction, we understand it is a pennant race and emotions are high during a crucial series with a heated rival. This isn’t the first time a player has lost his temper in response to a reporter’s questions and it won’t be the last. It is part of covering the team day-in day-out.

Phillips went 2-5 on Wednesday in the Reds’ 10-0 win over the Cardinals. His OBP is now .311. The Reds are 3.5 games out of first and have a 6-game cushion in the Wild Card race.
