Champions League 2013-14 Group Draw: Group F With Arsenal, Dortmund and Napoli is the "Group of Death"
By Ty Duffy
Group A: Manchester United, Shakhtar Donetsk, Bayer Leverkusen, Real Sociedad
Sir Alex Ferguson retired, but maintained his influence over the Champions League draw. There are no easy games here for David Moyes, but
Group B: Real Madrid, Juventus, Galatasaray, FC Copenhagen
Real Madrid vs. Juventus will be fun. Real Madrid and Juventus in the same group with two also-rans will not be. Maybe Galatasaray gets frisky with Sneijder and Didier Drogba, but it is doubtful.
Group C: Benfica, PSG, Olympiacos, Anderlecht
This should be an easy run for PSG. Probably the best bet to put a surprise team in the Round of 16.
Group D: Bayern Munich, CSKA Moscow, Manchester City, Viktoria Plzen
Bayern are clear favorites. Manchester City get a group they should make it out of.
Group E: Chelsea, Schalke, FC Basel, Steaua Bucharest
This group will look familiar to Chelsea, after slumming it en route to the Europa League title last year. Jose Mourinho should not have much trouble here.
Group F: Arsenal, Marseille, Dortmund, Napoli
This is your group of death. Arsenal, last year’s finalist Borussia Dortmund and a tournament-tough Napoli under Rafa Benitez. Not signing Gonzalo Higuain may haunt Arsenal directly. Also a group rematch with Arsenal, Marseille and Dortmund being paired together two years ago.
Group G: Porto, Atletico Madrid, Zenit, Austria Wien
The group gutted by Monaco. Porto sold Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez to the newly promoted French juggernaut. Atletico Madrid sold star stirker Falcao.
Group H: Barcelona, AC Milan, Ajax, Celtic
Ajax gets hosed again. Little chance for a romantic run from Celtic. Barcelona vs. AC Milan with Super Mario will be fun, but probably not mean a whole lot.
