Mike Budenholzer, who has been the Atlanta Hawks head coach for exactly three months, was arrested for DUI overnight in Georgia. Budenholzer, who was with the Spurs for 19 years before taking the Hawks job on May 28th, had a busted tail light, which led to getting pulled over. The state trooper smelled alcohol.
Budenholzer refused a breath test, then failed a field test, and was arrested.
You wait nearly two decades for a shot at being a head coach. And then you potentially blow it with one night of drinking. [via AJC]
[UPDATE: According to My Fox Atlanta, it wasn't just DUI that Budenholzer was charged with. "He faces charges concerning alcohol, drugs, 'multiple substances.'"]
[UPDATE II: My Fox Atlanta has now pulled the 'drugs, multiple substances' line, but for those of you who missed it this morning, click here.]
