Tommy Morrison, Boxer, Dead at 44

Tommy Morrison, the boxer who achieved a modicum of fame for beating George Foreman, and later appeared in Rocky V, died Sunday at the age of 44.

It remains unclear how Morrison, who tested positive for HIV in 1996, died. His former promoter told the Tulsa World:

"“It’s true,” said Holden, who resides in Tulsa. “He was with his wife Trisha when he passed.”"

One outlet, Doghouse Boxing, reports that Morrison’s cause of death was “respiratory and metabolic acidosis and multiple organ failure.”

Morrison possessed a lethal left hook and had a career record of 48-3-1. His signature victory was a 12-round decision over George Foreman in 1993. Many will remember Morrison for his starring role in Rocky V. Here’s the trailer:
