Aldon Smith and Delanie Walker Sued In Regard to 2012 Shooting
By Jason Lisk
Aldon Smith was stabbed in June of 2012 while attending a house party. He recovered from those injuries before the season began. That initial story noted that two other people suffered non-life threatening gun shot wounds, and the scene was chaotic when police arrived, with more than 100 people at the party.
Now, one of those gunshot victims, Ronndale Esporlas, is suing Smith and former teammate Delanie Walker, now with the Tennessee Titans. Esporlas alleges that Smith and Walker possessed illegal handguns on the night of the incident. Further, Smith hosted the party, where he charged a $10 cover and $5 a drink, and both he and Walker are alleged to have been intoxicated. According to the complaint, both Smith and Walker then began firing guns into the air while on a balcony, to get people to leave. Walker then allegedly went to the driveway, where he again began “firing a handgun in the air and towards others attending the party.” Esporlas then says he was shot twice during crossfire with other people who began firing back.
Obviously, serious allegations here, especially in light of the Aaron Hernandez situation and other recent cases of NFL players illegally possessing handguns. Smith was also arrested for DUI earlier that same offseason, and Goodell may have an interest in meeting with Smith in light of these allegations about what happened in 2012.
