Landon Donovan’s eye might be a bit wonky tonight. He still found a way to score against Mexico Tuesday night in Columbus thanks to a beautifully threaded ball from Mix Diskerud. It was Donovan’s 57th career international goal and ushered in the most magical scoreline in American soccer: 2-0.

Dos a cero (clapclapclapclapclap) … Dos a cero (clapclapclapclapclap) … Dos a cero (clapclapclapclapclap) … Dos a cero (clapclapclapclapclap) … Dos a cero (clapclapclapclapclap) … Dos a cero (clapclapclapclapclap) … Dos a cero (clapclapclapclapclap).

The United States will book a place in Brazil, hopefully, in about an hour should Honduras hold on to beat Panama. Mexico is now on track for a two-leg playoff with New Zealand just to qualify. Have fun with that.

(PS: Fate made sure Clint Dempsey missed his 94th minute penalty kick to make sure it ended up 2-0.)
