Josh Freeman’s relationship with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has appeared strained since last season, when he closed the season with a horrible stretch of play. The team drafted Sean Glennon, and there was talk that he had a chance to supplant the incumbent.

On Wednesday, Pro Football Talk reported that the Buccaneers had a players only meeting to discuss the issue of captaincy. Freeman was not elected as an offensive captain, and according to PFT, the question was raised about the legitimacy of the vote.

Now, word has come out that Freeman missed the team photo.  Greg Schiano today at his post-practice press conference: “The team photo was taken on Monday, and he overslept and missed the meeting. ”

When asked if this is something he has to deal with in the past with Freeman, Schiano said,

"“For me to stand up here and say no, that wouldn’t be true. It’s not — I don’t want it to appear that he’s late for stuff– there’s things he has been late for, there are things a lot of players have been later for.  My whole thing is there are no excuses, just excused absences. I’ll leave it at that without going into our internal way of handling things, but he isn’t the only one who has been late for something. “"

Other than the late hit out of bounds and this, sounds like everything is going just great in Tampa.
