Steve Stricker Opts to Play in TOUR Championship, Skip Elk Hunting Trip

Steve Stricker was all set to skip the upcoming TOUR Championship because he had an elk-hunting trip lined up with his buddies. But then he talked to his wife, and … well, you can always go elk hunting.

"“I had a good talk with (his wife) Nicki on the way home right after Boston (in which Stricker was runner-up to Henrik Stenson) and thought it was pretty important for me to go and play and not go hunting instead,” he said. “Even though I’d rather go hunting, I think it’s pretty important, being in the position I am in, top 10 going into this week. I still have the opportunity and the chance to win, which I didn’t think I’d be in this position starting the year with the limited playing schedule.”"

Steve Stricker strikes me as a guy who has a bumper sticker that says, “I’d rather be hunting.” Has anyone made an, “I’d rather be playing pick-up basketball” bumper sticker? Because that’s what I’d rather be doing. [via PGA Tour.com via Adam]
