Ahmad Brooks Leveled Russell Wilson on the Read Option

Russell Wilson, off to the worst start of his young career, handed the ball off to Marshawn Lynch in the second quarter and then got pulverized by San Francisco’s Ahmad Brooks.

Here’s another, more squeamish angle:

The hit was legal. If Brooks delivers that to Tom Brady or Peyton Manning, does it draw a flag? Perhaps. But they’re not running the read option. Interesting note – the Packers were doing this (or attempting to) last week against the 49ers. Jim Harbaugh railed against it.

Now, he’s got his defenders doing the same thing.

Wilson has started the game 1-for-9 for 35 yards with an interception. The Seahawks, after a one hour weather delay, lead 5-0 approaching halftime.
