Sad News: Michael Jackson Statue Leaving Fulham's Craven Cottage
By Mike Cardillo
‘Tis a dark day in the world of England’s Premier League. It appears former Fulham owner Mohamed Al Fayed is ready to move the statue of Michael Jackson he installed outside Craven Cottage in 2011 to one of his other properties according to the Independent.
This is a tragic announcement. Nothing summed up the glitz and glamour of the Premier League quite like a statue of the King of Pop outside the stadium grounds. Imagine what parents are going to have to tell their heartbroken children next time they attend a game at the Cottage and they don’t see the Jackson statute outside to greet them
If there’s any silver linings to this sad story, it means Al Fayed won’t have to cut off new Fulham owner Shahid Khan’s glorious mustache as he threatened to do if the Jacksonville Jaguars owner moved the statue — and that ‘stache is pure gold.At least the the sports bar inside the stadium named for American legend Brian McBride remains intact.
Let’s hope the statue has a better post-Fulham career than Clint Dempsey.
