Geoff Cameron opened up his scoring account at Stoke City today with a goal in against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in London. The 28-year-old American defender/midfielder/utilityman was in the right place at the right time to power home the rebound of Marko Arnautovic’s shot off the post, slotting it through the long legs of Arsenal defenders Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny and then fingertips of keeper Wojciech Szczęsny.

Cameron has started all five league games for Stoke so far this season. The former Houston Dynamo player has played that position, along with center back and central midfielder for Jurgen Klinsmann’s U.S. National Team.

It was a good day for defenders scoring goals at the Emirates, as Gunners back Bacary Sagna also scored — set up on Mesut Özil’s third assist on Sunday. Arsenal won 3-1, which moved the Gunners atop the Premier League table pending Tottenham’s result vs. Cardiff City later today. [via 101GG]
