Pirates Fans Tried to Get Inside the Head of Johnny Cueto

It’s been 21 years since Pittsburgh hosted a postseason baseball game. Pirates fans are making up for lost time.

In the bottom of the second Pirates let out two decades of frustration out on Reds starter Johnny Cueto, with a mock chant of his name after he allowed a home run to Marlon Byrd. Cueto got Pedro Alvarez to line out to center, but as Russell Martin stepped to the plate cries of “Cuet-ooooo, Cuet-ooo” rang out across PNC Park. At one point during Martin’s the at bat Cueto dropped the ball from his glove before going into his windup.

On cue, Martin took the (possibly) rattled righty deep to left field to make it 2-0.

Were the fans inside his head? If the Pirates hold on to win, we’ll certainly say they were.

Pittsburgh leads 5-1 in the sixth behind a strong start from Francisco Liriano. Too bad they weren’t chanting “Quato” because then it would offer me the oppurtunity to riff on “Total Recall.”

Todd Frazier’s catch against the railing to end the second is your top Reds’ highlight so far.
