Jeff Cumberland's Catch-Bobble-Near Interception-Catch Play Was Crazy
By Jason McIntyre
Jeff Cumberland, a Jets tight end, caught this slant on 3rd-and-8 and was headed for the first down when the ball slipped out of his hands and into the air. It looked, briefly, like the Falcons would intercept it, but Cumberland, amazingly, was able to catch it off the tip for the first down. A few plays later the Jets had to settle for a field goal and 3-0 lead.
It was all set up by this blocked punt.
