A United States Hockey League game was suspended following a scary injury brought about by a fight.
Dubuque Flying Saints defenseman Dylan Chanter and Cedar Rapids RoughRiders forward Corey Petrash engaged in fisticuffs during second-period action. At the end of the fight, Petrash landed a punch on helmetless Chanter, who struck his head violently on the ice.
As the crowd vigorously cheered the punch and rang cowbells, Chanter began convulsing. He was stretchered off and the game was eventually abandoned.
Chanter later took to Twitter to let everyone know his status.
Wanted to let everyone know I’m awake and okay. Thank you so much for all your thoughts prayers. Nothing compares to the hockey community.
