NBA legend Bill Russell was arrested Wednesday for having a loaded weapon in a prohibited area of Sea-Tac International Airport in Seattle, police said. The 79-year-old was cited and then released.
A .38-caliber Smith & Wesson was found in Russell’s carry-on bag during screening at a Transportation Security Administration checkpoint. Traveling with firearms is permitted, but they must be checked and unloaded.
The Presidential Medal of Freedom winner could be fined up to $7,500 for the offense.
